DebatingOnline.org Forum RulesDue to the controversial nature of the forums, we must have in place a flexible, yet strict rules system. The fundamental thing you must remember on the forums is to be tolerant of others' views. Below are the rules of Debating Online which you should keep in mind while posting here:
- There is no opinion-based moderation here at Debating Online. I will not moderate a post simply because I do not like the content. However, please read the following, as a warning of the type of posts that may be moderated. If you wish to dispute a moderation decision, please send me a Personal Message.
- Do not use slurs. If you harass a member through racial, sexual, homophobic or any other methods we deem to be unacceptable you may be banned. This includes slurs through email, PM or postings.
- Use Personal Messaging for all private discussions. Do not post the contents of Personal Messages; this is an invasion of privacy as they are of course private. If you find contents of a Personal Message to be unacceptable, forward the message to an administrator.
- If you see a message that is partially or fully inappropriate, please click the "Report to moderator" link. All reports will be taken seriously.
- Please do not post copyrighted material directly; link to it; or if not possible, please state your source.
- Do not spam. Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages are forbidden. Please only post useful content that is for the greater good of the forums.
- Please do not post warez or other illegal material. If there is a discussion about sex, please link to sexual content rather than post it. This includes images; the images must be legal.
- The administrator will not be held responsible for any messages posted or any incorrect information you have received.
- Do not attempt to bypass the censor filter. We censor 1 letter per offensive word, so as the website will not be blocked in libraries, schools or other educational facilities. Swearing/Cursing is not banned on the forums, however, we do ask that you keep it to a minimum.
- Please do not quote massive amounts of text from Wikipedia. If you must use Wikipedia as a source, please post a link to the page rather than quoting. We do accept Wikipedia as a semi-credible source, however, please refrain from using it as source material for an entire argument. The same applies for any user-submitted and user-contributed content.
- The rules may be changed at any time; we will notify users of changes or amendments.
Important - All text posted to DebatingOnline becomes Public Domain immediately. Anyone may freely distribute your posts. The exception to this rule is the News and Current Affairs forum, which may contain large chunks of copied text from news websites. It is important to cite your source when copying to our boards to avoid plagiarising.
In accordance with Free Speech and our forum rules, you are entitled to question my judgement, through Personal Messages. Keep these private affairs out of the forum to prevent clutter. The following staff members look after the forum:
