I hope I can find some agreement that the quality of news over any medium is verging on disastrous. Every single news outlet I can think of has some in-built bias and is obviously working for a political motive. The worst examples of this are probably Fox News in the US and The Sun in the UK..I find it appalling when I find a solid news article riddled with political accusations that need not be present. When I read a newspaper I don't want to read about "Labour's failed health plans" or the "Republicans failure in Iraq", I want to see news. Even the BBC are starting to slip into this horrible crevice of downright slow news postings and political motivation, which I had previously claimed as a reasonably sound news source.
Is 2008 to be the year that news agencies die? I sure hope so if they don't get their act together!

On almost any given subject you know exactly what the BBC's line will be:

If it's covering the Middle East it will be bigging up the gallant Hezbollah freedom fighters and the plucky Palestinians at the expense of the hateful, damned-near-as-bad-as-the-Nazis Israeli oppressors.

If it's covering Europe, it will treat every politician who is not in favour of ever-closer-union as a rabid, swivel-eyed, crypto-fascist loon, and every politician who is as a lovable, clear-eyed visionary.

If it's covering any kind of war in which he UK or US are involved, it will show the enemy to be the good guys and and that we or the US deserve to get slaughtered.

I could go on forever, but we all see that the BBC is biased, as it's a government run corporation, which systematically shoots out left-wing, elitist propaganda to the seemingly gullible masses.

While i agree with ryan i must take issue with one of nathans points as it seems quite an odd concept, you state that the iraq war is shown as one where the UK and USA troops should be slaughtered...and then go on to state that it is goverment run, would the government not try and put a slightly more favourable view on the news if they ran it?

Oh yeah...because they don't run it, see what i did there? Saved you the hassle of replyin, your finger tips will thank me one day.Smiley
And btw, don't sit harping on about the 'gullible masses' its an almost vomit inducing phrase that has become far to over used recently, and is a pathetic tactic; trying to belittle people by making them seem stupid because not all of us are blessed with your forsight and power of thought is almost laughable
